Too many solicitation letters?

Interesting article in Slate about contribution solicitations titled: Stop Pleas! The charities I support send me way too many fundraising letters. I’m sick of it. What can I do?

The story is reminisant to the too many catalogs issue we are addressing.  One solution to the give to your favorite charites online.  We use Network For Good for our online donations.  You can find lots of great causes to support there.

Will be great if Catalog Choice will enter charities territory in same way as it successfully entered catalogs one.

I don’t think that unwanted charity is better in any respect then unwanted catalog. And it waste money donated by other donors.

as a professional fundraiser I can tell you that any nonprofit worth its salt (and your donation) should be able to send you LESS postal appeal letters at your request. It’s a simple database code. Most can also code you electronic only etc. You will have to contact the organization and if they can’t accomodate this you might reconsider whether you want to continue your support.

Barbara, that’s what I did and it’s worked. My standard letter indicates that we have certain charities we donate and do not have the funds to accomadate any additional charities. Mine are the Native American schools. I’ve even contacted them and requested that my or my husband’s mail info be given out. It’s been honored. Recently, I had a phone call from a public television foundation thanking me for our support. I politely explained that four letters were sent requesting removal. The caller was very apologetic and so was I because I understand the hard work that a fundraiser does.
CC.org: my catalog receipts are almost nil..Thanks again.

Correction! That our name NOT be given out to other charities. Sorry.
