On the subject of unwelcome content...

I received an order from Zappos.com today, and guess what was in the box. Yup, a catalog. Actually, a useless hybridized catalog/magazine style guide thingy that they're calling a "magalog." It was very general in nature, not at all targeted to me. Why would I find that interesting, when I've already used Zappos' excellent search features to pinpoint what I need? I was not pleased by this new development. I sent the magalog back with the shoes (which I had to exchange for another size anyhow), and I expressed my disappointment via Zappos' online feedback form.

Sigh... I thought Zappos was an e-commerce pureplay type of place. My mistake.

Can merchants please stop automatically including catalogs in shipments of orders placed online? Please?

So well said, I wish more people could get this--the catalogue senders first and foremost. I love getting catalogues from companies whose products I want to oggle, buy or dream about buying. It's rare that I even open ones from companies I don't know--especially when I am clearly not their target market.
I'm such a big fan of Catalogue Choice. They are a brilliant company with really big you know whats for taking on the DMA.
Rock on and thanks CC.
