I want the catalogs to stop, but I know what type of merchandise the companies sell, and how to find them on the Internet. I want companies to know that from now on, I will buy ONLY from companies that honor my Catalog Choice requests, and NEVER from companies that refuse my Catalog Choice requests. I think this is a good policy!

At last! No more carrying stacks of magazines from the mailbox only to be directly deposited in my recycle bin. Still working on eliminating the ones getting through - the hardline hold-outs convinced that I'll buy something if they just keep sending - but what used to be 20 to 25 catalogs a week has trickled down to 3 to 4. Hooray for Catalog Choice and 3 cheers for the environment!

June:
You may want to try www.privacyrights.org under the direct marketing section for mail removal. That helped me considerably. Also check with your public records office to see if they can restrict access to the records. That may work with the city clerk, and courts. It is worth a shot. Not everyone wants their entire address, past addresses, who their neighbors are and other information plastered all over the internet. That is all obtained from city\goverment records.

I opted out of a large group of catalogs early in 2008, but am still receiving most of them. A few merchants have complied, but I can't say there's been a noticeable difference in the number of catalogs in my mailbox. I applaud your good intentions and efforts, but why isn't this system more efficient?

We need to get past the vendors to the companies who provide mail lists. I want to get us off of the MAIL LIST PROVIDERS list. Otherwise, the vendor may remove you from one list, then buy your name again on another list. Care to address that issue?
