Unfortunately, the solution isn't as easy as Mr. Lenser has implied. Several catalog mailers with whom I discussed Catalog Choice at the recent ACCM had done careful research on the names provided to them by Catalog Choice for removal. In general, they found that a very small percentage of the names supplied were found on their customer files. Though I am not endorsing the DMA's answer - I also find it hard to endorse Catalog Choice and the others until I am certain that there are enough checks and balances to make their procedure a lot closer to 'fool proof' than it appears to be now.

Hurrah! for the endorsement. Double the Hurrah! for those who want secondary confirmation and do not require any action on my part unless I want the catalog. CatalogChoice fits my needs for quick, efficient selection on the CatalogChoice website. Since I have declined 268 times, think how much work it would be to go on each companies' website and do it!

Now if only there was a way of stopping the avalanche of mailings from donation seekers. Many of them sending two or more solicitations in a weeks time.
We donate to a select few, but once they start the overflow of mail, we cross them off our list.

This is good news. I was stunned when I received information that Title 9 and The Territory Ahead declined the request from Catalog Choice. I am asking that catalogs not be sent to me because it is just as easy for me to shop online versus having to recycle all of that paper; but, when they decline I immediately go to their website and tell them I will not shop at all with them anymore because they are not listening to catalog choice.

Great! I'm really sick of killing trees and shredding name/address (appears twice on most catalogues - doubly annoying).

What a great program. Now if you could expand it to local mailings. %-)

That's excellent news. I went to the Lenser site, read the full text, and feel good about it.

I also looked at the Lenser client list. Maybe the ladies at Title 9 Sports (who've ignored my e-mail) will listen to Lenser and cease sending catalogs to my address. That sure would be nice.

Thank you, John

It would be nice for the catalog industry to listen to the consumer and allow us to chose and not make wasteful marketing assumptions with sharing/exchanging or selling our mailing info hapfhazardly. Wish the "or current resident" would disappear.

I won't make any further comment on DMA - this time.

Catalogchoice has only given us a change to voice and be heard.
